Cutting the apron strings...

This weekend marks a momentous time in our lives. I am not just speaking of the fact that my wife will turn 40 years old on Saturday. What I am referring to is the fact that our oldest son will be making his first overnight trip sans his parents or some family member. For some parents this would not be a big deal but for us it truly is. Our children have only ever spent the night in their own home or on occasion with one of their grandparents. It is a hard thing to trust someone else with the care of your children. I can only imagine how hard it must be for working parents to leave their children on a daily basis in the care of strangers. Our son will be venturing into the great outdoors with his scout troop for two nights. I can only hope that everything we have taught him has taken root somewhere in his mind...
