Too smart...

We have always known our older son was very intelligent. There are times when I take for granted just how bright and clued into the world around him that the child is. He reads anything and everything he can get his hands on. It doesn't matter if he finds a magazine featuring supplement reviews lying around he will read it. Last night he asked me about my car accident which kind of surprised me. He hasn't said a great deal about it and we have tried to protect him from the details as much as possible. The questions he asked me were very specific and made me wonder where they were coming from. In the course of our conversation he conveyed that he found the police report from the accident on the table and had read it. He wanted to know why the driver who hit me had taken cold medicine and gotten behind the wheel? He went onto to say that the driver should have known better because it says right on the box or bottle not to operate a motor vehicle. It was hard to argue with this logic because I feel the same way myself. I however decided to take the high road and explain that the driver had made a bad decision and that hopefully he will learn from his mistake.
