The signs are there.

A few weeks ago our oldest son started participating in a new Boy Scout troop. Because we don't know anyone there I decided to volunteer to help with the troop. It has been interesting to see my son around a group of older boys. I can already see signs that he is becoming a young man rather than staying a boy. I am not just talking about the impending need for the best acne cream for his face. Yes, his skin is starting to show a wee bit of acne but that is not the point. What I am more focused on is the fact that he is willing to take responsibility and exerts his independence at times. It is good see these changes and I am glad they are coming slowly. As a parent you need a bit of time to adjust to who your child is becoming. Children sometimes seems to grow up overnight and that makes life difficult for everyone. I will gladly accept small positive steps toward adulthood.
