Reskilling...

You might have guessed by my posts that we are keenly interested in homesteading. It seems as if there is always some new skill that we want to learn or master. This week we decided to try to make a rocket stove out of discarded cans. Using a #10 can and four soup cans it is pretty easy to construct a functioning rocket stove. We used our stove in our fireplace to roast hot dogs. What we didn't realize is that these cans were coated with some sort of crap that burnt off and created a horrible smell. I can only imagine what this stuff was and how much of it we ate. So, the moral of the story is don't make a rocket stove out of cans coated with crap.
