Modifications and more....

Two of our three chickens are now laying eggs. The problem has been that one of them has been laying her eggs from the roost. This means that daily we have had a broken egg. When you only have a couple of chickens having 50% of your daily eggs broken is not a good thing. We seem to constantly be trying to figure out what these chickens want or need from us. This results in modifications a plenty. After trying different nest boxes in different locations we seem to finally have some success! Getting the egg in the nest box meant mounting the nest box to the roost. Silly, but I believe this particular chicken could not be trouble to get up and travel downstairs to use the facilities. I suppose we have all felt that way about getting up in the middle of the night huh? I hate waking from a sound sleep to go to the restroom.
