Don't touch it!

Whenever we go to visit my mother we have to lecture our children in advance about touching the remote control for her television. For whatever reason my mother cannot understand how to change the setting on her television if they are accidentally changed. All she has is basic cable and it is the same as it has been for the last ten years. It isn't as though she just swapped cable for one of those digital television antennas or anything. The last time we were there one of the children wanted to watch a DVD as opposed to the regular cable television. This started an entire saga about having to change the setting on the remote in order to get the DVD player connected to the television. It wasn't a matter of changing cables or hooking anything up but rather simply pressing a few buttons. After a bunch of lecturing and drama we decided to just forewarn the children not to touch the television or the remote while we are there.
