Hitting The Gym

I have decided the time has come to hit the gym once again. The winter really took a toll on my body and fitness routine. Cardio seems to be the place to start and build upon. The question on my mind is just how much cardio is best for starting out?

My research indicated that:
Cardio would seem like the best way to condition your heart and increase lung capacity.

For someone bulking, I'd say 30-45min 3x a week, highest intensity on the 30min days and lowest intesity on the 45 min days. Where maybe you are doing 2 HIIT days/week and 1 day of long, slow, distance (LSD). The short, intense days will help increase your anerobic training (read: exercise requiring short burst of energy, such as weight lifting, will get easier) and the LSD will be more of an active recovery and will increase your aerobic training (read: longer workouts will get easier).

For someone trying to lose weight, keep it off, would like long lean muscles and doesn't care about bulking (like me)...I would try to do some cardio 6x week w/ 1 day of rest (take a walk) and lift 2-3x week.
