Never alone.

It occurred to me this week that my wife and I have not spent a weekend alone in the last 11 years. This might surprise many of you but it is the truth. We just aren't the type of people who have tons of people willing to take our children for the weekend. It isn't that our children are misbehaved but rather that our immediate families have very busy lives. At the end of the month we will be heading off for a weekend alone and I cannot wait. We have booked a cabin in the woods for a couple of nights. I imagine it will be weird when we close the door knob behind us and drive away with our children staying behind. My mother is coming to stay with the children which should be quite interesting since she has never stayed with both of them at the same time. She frequently takes our older son for the weekend but our little guy has never been away from his parents. I can only hope for the best and that it turns out to be a great weekend for everyone.
