Feeling lighter.
Debt is something that we seemed to have slowly amassed over our almost 20 years of marriage. It seemed like little things were just constantly contributing to our need to use credit cards and the balances grew and grew. It was about 4 years ago that we realized that we needed to get control of our spending habits. Over the last four years we have paid off about $25,000 in debts. This is an embarrassing fact to admit. Between years of college and living beyond our means we just lost control. I am so proud to admit that last week we made the final payment on this debt and are now free of it. It is an amazing feeling to know that this era of debt filled living is behind us. We have closed every credit card except one and are now going to drop the available balance down to a very modest limit. This isn't to say that we are now rolling in money but there is a bright light in the future that having all of that debt blocked out.
