Ode to the Sheik

Okay boys and girls, pop quiz. The one who gets it right gets a date with Abdullah's sister. Who is the true innovator of hard core? I'll give you a hint, it's not Abdullah's sister. Edward Farhat was doing hardcore before Mick Foley was a glint in mama Foley's eye and used a name that generally brought fear to most wrestlers, the Sheik. The Sheik was an incredibly good heel and was known for doing almost anything which included throwing fireballs, using chairs, using his teeth and fingernails, and anything else he could get his hands on (including various kitchen utensils) to make you bleed buckets in order to give the fans of Detroit what they wanted. He trained wrestlers such as Rob Van Dam and his real life nephew Sabu and ran a successful organization in Detroit Michigan called Big Time Wrestling. The men he has faced reads like a who's who of wrestling and include both of the Funk brother, Bobo Brazil, Dusty Rhodes, and Harley Race. He and my buddy Abdullah bled gallons in Japan, Puerto Rico, Africa, and even in Mexico. Four years ago last January Ed Farhat passed away. For those of you old timmers who remember The Sheik and his sheer brutality you would enjoy the article at the bottom of his profile at OWW, again proving folks that it is all about the presentation.
