It's Deja Vu all over again.....just different this time.
Lets face facts. The "new brand" of ECW, or in this case re-packaged WWE wannabe's and hasbeen's, just blows chunks. I lived in Philadelphia during the original ECW's heyday and can remember actually being in Viking Hall when Buh-Buh Ray used a cheese grater on the head of his "little brother" Spike as the crowd (drunken rabid mob might be more fitting) screamed in perfect unison, "ECW ECW ECW". These men did not have the body of a Batista or John Cena and were not getting paid like Hulk Hogan or Kevin Nash but they would give you one hell of a show and would sell each move like it was the last one they would ever make. Men like Taz, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, and and Shane Douglas gave a little peice of themselves to you every night and the fans would gladly accept it and beg for more. The general consensus over the last couple months has been that the WWE's re-packaged version of ECW is an insult to Paul Hey man and the original ECW and that many former ECW performers refuse to work with Vince out of principle and loyalty to Paul. I can't say that I wouldn't blame any one of them for doing so and applaud them for attempting to make sure that Vince doesn't cheapen what they have done personally even if has, in a sense, cheapened what the company itself had done. Over the next couple of entries I will talk about some of the talent that WWE is wasting in the purgatory of today's ECW where the E now stands for "Extra watered down".
